Born in the 80s - Waterford New Music Week

Monday, 7 March 2016

From the decade that brought you jelly shoes, Pac- man, Mutant Ninja Turtles and E.T we bring you Ireland’s brightest composing talent.

This is classical music from here and now - from Irish composers in their 20’s and early 30’s. Born in the 80s features works by Jonathan Nangle, Barry O’Halpin, Benedict Schlepper-Connolly, Amanda Feery and Sebastian Adams.

Crash Ensemble will be performing as a violin, viola, cello, double bass, clarinet, flute, & electric guitar.

We are glad to be able to conclude our Born in the 80s concert series with a special concert at the WIT Chapel, as part of Waterford New Music Week, in association with Garter Lane Arts Centre.

PAUSE was written for Crash Ensemble and commissioned by The Dock with funds generously provided by the Arts Council of Ireland. We gave the premiere performance of PAUSE for violin, viola, cello, double bass and video ballet on 31st October 2015 in The Dock with a second performance taking place in the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast on 5th November.

Crash Ensemble would like to thank the Arts Council for their support of these concerts, and Jonathan Nangle's commission.
