For its 20th anniversary in 2017, Crash Ensemble decided to give way to adventure: how might contemporary music fit within the Irish landscape? The group had 20 commissioned pieces from composers in Ireland and elsewhere to premiere.
The CrashLands project comprises ten concerts held throughout the Irish countryside with venues including a lighthouse, a holy well, a castle courtyard, medieval ruins and a prison island.
Working together with film director Brendan Canty, editor Laura Sheeran and audio engineer Bob Jackson, the group managed to create a video series from this unique concert tour. A selection of these videos will be showcased at Music nova.
In addition to the films there will be a solo concert of cellist Kate Ellis, the Artistic Director of Crash.
