On July 19th we will be performing at the country’s largest annual international arts festival.
The programme for the evening consists of three large-scale works for full ensemble, and includes the world premiere of a new commissioned work by composer and producer Daniel Figgis.
Figgis’ dimmerswitch is written for the full ensemble and tape. According to the composer, the piece ‘presents a self-regulating but faulty steampunk mechanism in a fervid and hyperactive dialogue with the beating heart that is Crash Ensemble.’
Also on the night is American composer Nico Muhly’s Drones, Variations, Ornaments, another Crash commission that was premiered at our Young Americans concert last year and Donnacha Dennehy’s internationally acclaimed, Grá agus Bás (2009), with sean-nós performer Iarla O’Lionaird.
