Announcing Artist-in-Residence Jonathan Nangle and Rose Connolly

We are VERY, VERY excited to announce that our newest Artists-in-Residence are Jonathan Nangle and Rose Connolly!

A few words from our Artistic Director Kate Ellis:

Jonathan and Rose are special artists. We have built strong musical connections with them both and are very lucky to be able to take the time to immerse ourselves in their unique sound worlds over the next few years.

A little bit about Jonathan:

Jonathan is a composer whose work explores many diverse fields ranging from notated acoustic and electro-acoustic composition, through live and spatially distributed electronics, to video, field recording, interactive sound installation and electronic improvisation.

“I am thrilled to be working with Crash Ensemble as an Artist-in-Residence. Since first working with them at their 10th Anniversary marathon in 2007, and many times since as both a composer and technician, I have experienced up-close their commitment, attention to detail and excitement they bring to their musical performances. It is a privilege to have the time and space to work on a large-scale composition with such a dedicated group of musicians and to expand upon musical threads I have developed over the past few years.” Jonathan Nangle

A little bit about Rose:

Rose is a composer whose unique sound is an idiosyncratic combination of modernist/ contemporary music with inflections of Irish traditional music, folk and jazz. She has produced a body of work which includes large-scale and small-scale ensemble work, electro-acoustic, short film/multi-media works and audio-visual installation.

“I am delighted to embark on this exciting new journey with Crash Ensemble. It has always been a dream of mine to write for Crash, and I'm particularly excited about experimenting with new multi-media ideas and collaborations." Rose Connolly
