Continuing with their commitment to an annual showcase of the new and exciting music of Irish composers, Crash Ensemble would like to open a call for submissions from all Irish composers and composers resident in Ireland. There will be no age limit. Works must comprise of instruments from within the ensemble (see below) and should not exceed 15'. The piece can also include electronics and visuals (single screen) but would ideally not contain a click-track. There will be a small prize of €500 for the best submission.
Free State VI will be held in early Spring 2011. Submissions must be sent with a PDF score (and MP3 if available) to info@crashensemble.com by 5pm Friday 29th October 2010. Please put 'Free State VI Submission' in the subject line.
Crash Ensemble instrumentation:
Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Piano, Electric Guitar, Percussion, Clarinet, Flute, Trombone. option Mezzo Soprano. Single instrument in each case.
Crash runs a 2 season, part-time administrative internship that provides hands-on experience of arts administration and of the production management of contemporary classical music.
This is a wonderful opportunity to learn new skills and to observe and participate in the workings of a successful, internationally recognised music group.
The internship is unpaid, though there will be a performance based bonus on completion of the term.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
Research projects (tasks involving the recording industry, international promotions, international taxes and visas for touring purposes)
Education workshop logistics and management
Competitions and invitations management
Production
Office documentation management
Accounting data entry
Online data and general website maintenance
Library work (score and audio)
General office administration
The internship is part-time (2 days a week, between Mon-Fri), from Sept 2010 to June 2011 (with a decent break at Christmas!) Some flexibility with respect to hours will be requested at gig-times.
