Crash Ensemble produced and performed three concerts in one ‘marathon’ style event for the LMF celebrating the music of American composer Steve Reich. The concerts were designed to chart the developing style of this unique composer. The range of works programmed as well as the magnitude of the event provided Crash Ensemble with its most challenging undertaking to date involving works as varied as Pendulum Music, Four Organs, Music for Mallet Instruments, Voices and Organ and City Life. This unique event allowed us to fully tap into the popularity of Reich with audiences and to premiere new Irish work (by Simon O’Connor and Jennifer Walsh) and important European work (Louis Andrieesen) in this context.
